Bedroom interior designers in Bangalore are often asked for a wardrobe and a headboard. A bedroom that works needs more thought than that. Huma Interiors plans the bed position, the wardrobe, the lighting and the storage together, shows you the room in 3D and builds it in its own factory in Chandapura.

What Bedroom Interior Designers Actually Plan

A bedroom has to do several jobs in a small area: sleep, storage, dressing and, in many Bangalore homes, work. The order in which the decisions are made matters, because each one limits the next.

  1. The bed positionEverything else follows from this. We check the door swing, the window, the bathroom door and the fan before placing the bed.
  2. The wardrobeIts size, its type and how the doors open are decided by the space left once the bed is placed.
  3. The headboard wallThe one surface you look at from the door. It carries the room's character.
  4. LightingGeneral light, reading light and a soft light for late evenings, each on its own switch within reach of the bed.
  5. Everything elseA dressing unit, a study desk, a TV wall or a window seat, wherever the room still has space to give.

Master Bedroom Interior Design

Master bedrooms in Bangalore apartments are smaller than most people assume when they start collecting ideas. Knowing the real size of yours keeps the design honest.

HomeTypical master bedroomCommon wall lengthUsually attached
1,200 sq ft 2 BHK120 – 140 sq ft10 – 12 ftBathroom
1,500 sq ft 3 BHK140 – 180 sq ft11 – 13 ftBathroom, sometimes a balcony
1,800 sq ft premium 3 BHK180 – 220 sq ft12 – 14 ftBathroom, balcony, dressing niche
Villa or duplex220 sq ft and above14 ft and aboveBathroom, balcony, walk-in wardrobe area

The bed then has to fit the wall, with room for a bedside table.

BedSize in inchesWall length needed
Indian queen60 × 78At least 9 ft, with one bedside table
Standard queen66 × 78At least 9.5 ft, with one bedside table
Indian king72 × 78At least 10 ft, with two bedside tables

Bed placement, wardrobe integration, false ceilings and colour are covered in depth in our master bedroom interior design guide.

The Headboard Wall

The wall behind the bed is where a bedroom gets its character, and it does not need to be expensive. These are the options we use most, with their cost per square foot of wall.

Children's Rooms That Grow Up

A child's room is used differently every few years. We build the parts that are expensive to change so that they last, and leave the parts that are cheap to change for the child.

A wardrobe sized for an adult

Adjustable shelves at child height now, a full hanging rail later, in the same carcass.

A real study desk

Full height with a chair that adjusts, good task light and sockets above the desk, not behind it.

Rounded edges, fixed units

Rounded corners at child height and tall units fixed to the wall so they cannot tip.

Colour that can change

Neutral furniture, with the colour in paint, curtains and wall art that are easy to redo at twelve.

The Guest Room That Is Also a Study

In most Bangalore homes the second or third bedroom is empty for much of the year. Designing it for two uses gets more out of the flat.

  • A sofa-cum-bed frees the floor on working days.
  • A desk built into the wardrobe run gives a proper workplace without a separate piece of furniture.
  • A smaller wardrobe with a loft stores guest bedding and the family's suitcases.
  • A light on the desk and one by the bed, so the room suits both uses.

Four Bedroom Styles to Start From

Most people find it easier to react to a picture than to describe a taste. These are four directions we design in. Your bedroom can sit in one of them or borrow from two.

Bedroom in the Warm modern style, by Huma Interiors
Warm modern
Bedroom in the Contemporary Indian style, by Huma Interiors
Contemporary Indian
Bedroom in the Quiet minimal style, by Huma Interiors
Quiet minimal

Warm modern

Wood tones, soft neutrals and clean lines. Easy to live with and hard to tire of.

Contemporary Indian

Modern planning with Indian pattern, colour and craft in the details.

Quiet minimal

Pale surfaces, hidden storage and very little on show.

Classic luxe

Panelled walls, richer materials and a more formal feel.

Bedroom Lighting

One bright ceiling light makes any bedroom feel like an office. We plan the light in layers, each on its own switch.

  • General light for cleaning, dressing and finding things, usually from the ceiling.
  • Reading light on each side of the bed, switched from the bed.
  • Soft light from a cove or behind the headboard for late evenings.
  • Wardrobe light inside the wardrobe, so you can see what you own.

Warm white light suits bedrooms better than cool white. If you plan a false ceiling, decide the lights first: the ceiling is built around them.

What a Bedroom Interior Costs

A bedroom is priced unit by unit, so there is no single figure. These are the main parts and where to find their prices.

The quote lists every unit with its board, finish and hardware. The furniture is made in our factory in Chandapura and installed by our own team. For a complete home, delivery is 45 days from design sign-off, written into the contract. Woodwork is under warranty for 5 years, extendable to 10.

Bedroom Interior Designers in Bangalore: questions

What do bedroom interior designers actually do?

A bedroom designer decides where the bed goes, sizes and places the wardrobe, designs the headboard wall, plans lighting in layers and finds storage the room did not seem to have. At Huma Interiors the room is then drawn in 3D, built in our own factory and installed by our team.

How big should a master bedroom be for a king-size bed?

An Indian king bed is 72 by 78 inches and needs a wall of at least 10 feet to take a bedside table on each side. A queen bed of 60 by 78 inches fits on a 9 foot wall with one bedside table.

What does a headboard wall cost?

As a guide per square foot of wall: textured paint ₹180 to ₹420, wallpaper ₹90 to ₹350, a fluted panel ₹450 to ₹850, an upholstered panel ₹550 to ₹950 and a wooden slat panel ₹600 to ₹1,100.

How much does a bedroom wardrobe cost in Bangalore?

A 6 ft by 7 ft two-door sliding wardrobe in laminate costs about ₹56,000 to ₹78,000, and an 8 ft by 7 ft three-door wardrobe ₹78,000 to ₹1.15 lakh. Finish, size and hardware decide the final figure.

Can you design a child’s room that still works when they are older?

Yes. We keep the fixed furniture neutral and well made, with a wardrobe sized for an adult and a study desk at full height, and put the playful colour in paint, fabric and wall art that can be changed later.

Do you design a single bedroom, or only whole homes?

Both. We take single rooms as well as complete homes. The site measurement and the first 3D design are free, a service worth ₹5,000.
