Good wardrobe designers in Bangalore start with what you own, not with a catalogue. Huma Interiors plans each wardrobe from the inside out, shows it to you in 3D and builds it in its own factory in Chandapura, so the saree shelf, the long-hang rail and the loft are exactly where you need them.

Types of Wardrobe Our Designers Build

Every wardrobe we make is built to the wall it stands on, floor to ceiling if you want it, with no gap at the top to collect dust. The four types below cover almost every bedroom in Bangalore.

Sliding wardrobes

Doors glide sideways on a track, so nothing swings into the room. The right choice when the bed sits close to the wardrobe.

Hinged wardrobes

Doors open outwards and show everything at once. Simple, economical and easy to maintain where there is room to open them.

Walk-in wardrobes

A small room or alcove fitted with open hanging, shelves and drawers. For villas and larger master bedrooms.

Wardrobes with a loft

A separate top section above the main doors for suitcases, bedding and things you need twice a year.

Wardrobe with dressing unit

A mirror, light and drawers planned into the wardrobe run, not added as an afterthought. See wardrobe with dressing table designs.

Wardrobe with study or TV unit

One continuous wall that holds clothes, a desk and the television, which saves space in a second bedroom.

Planning a whole home? Bedrooms and wardrobes usually take 30 to 40% of a 2 BHK interior budget. See interior design cost in Bangalore for full-home figures.

Planning the Inside of the Wardrobe

The doors are what guests see. The inside is what you use. A wardrobe designer's real work is dividing the interior so that each kind of clothing has a place of the right size.

ZoneShare of the wardrobeWhat it holdsMinimum depth
Long hang20 – 35%Sarees, gowns, long coats, anarkalis550 mm
Short hang25 – 40%Shirts, kurtas, blazers, trousers550 mm
Folded shelves20 – 30%T-shirts, jeans, folded sarees, towels450 mm
Drawers10 – 20%Innerwear, socks, accessories, jewellery400 mm
Loft10 – 15%Luggage, seasonal clothes, extra bedding400 mm

The split changes with the person. Someone with many sarees needs pull-out saree trays and a tall hanging section; someone who wears shirts and trousers needs a double-hang rail and trouser pull-outs. We ask before we draw. The full set of layouts is in our wardrobe internal design guide.

Wardrobe Finishes Compared

All our wardrobes are built on moisture-resistant plywood. The finish on the doors is where the look and a good part of the price are decided.

Hardware: the Part You Feel Every Day

A wardrobe door is opened thousands of times. The sliding system or the hinge decides whether it still runs smoothly years later, so we name the hardware against every wardrobe in the quote.

  • Sliding systems: Hettich TopLine XL for three and four-door master wardrobes, Hafele SlideLine M for standard master wardrobes and Ebco Slyder for two and three-door wardrobes.
  • Heavy doors: glass, mirror and solid-wood doors need a heavy-duty system rated for their weight.
  • Hinges and channels: soft-close hinges and drawer channels on the sections you use daily.

Wardrobe Mistakes to Avoid

Six things that spoil a wardrobe

  • Choosing the doors first. Decide what goes inside, then pick the finish.
  • Too little hanging depth. Under 550 mm inside, hangers press against the doors.
  • Hinged doors in a tight room. If the bed is in the way, the doors will never open fully.
  • No loft. Suitcases end up on top of the wardrobe or under the bed.
  • A dark interior. Without a light, the back of every shelf is lost.
  • Unnamed hardware. If the quote does not say which sliding system or hinge, you cannot check what you received.

Wardrobe Designers in Bangalore: questions

How much does a custom wardrobe cost in Bangalore?

As a guide, a 6 ft by 7 ft two-door sliding wardrobe in laminate costs about ₹56,000 to ₹78,000, an 8 ft by 7 ft three-door wardrobe ₹78,000 to ₹1.15 lakh, and a 10 ft by 8 ft four-door wardrobe with a loft ₹1.4 lakh to ₹2.2 lakh. Finish, size and hardware decide where your wardrobe falls.

Is a sliding or a hinged wardrobe better?

A sliding wardrobe suits a compact bedroom because its doors need no clearance in front, while hinged doors need about 90 cm to swing open. Hinged wardrobes cost less and show the whole interior at once. In a bedroom under about 120 sq ft, sliding is usually worth the extra cost.

Which material is best for a wardrobe in Bangalore?

We build wardrobes on moisture-resistant plywood and finish them in laminate, acrylic, veneer or PU paint. Matte laminate is the most economical and hard-wearing choice; acrylic adds about 20% and veneer with a PU coat about 40% over the baseline.

How deep should a wardrobe be?

Hanging space needs about 550 mm of internal depth so that clothes on hangers do not touch the doors. Shelves for folded clothes work at 450 mm, and drawers and lofts at about 400 mm.

How long does a wardrobe take to make and install?

For a complete home our delivery commitment is 45 days from design sign-off, written into the contract. A wardrobe on its own is made in our factory and installed in a short visit; the date is agreed when you approve the design.

Do you make only wardrobes, without the rest of the home?

Yes. We take wardrobe-only projects as well as complete homes. The site measurement and the first 3D design are free.
